5 Steps to an Amazing Proposal Idea
Awesome Proposal Ideas
In the time that Corlis and I have been documenting proposals, we have seen the good, the bad, and the ugly. Really ugly. We have compiled a short list, that we think, can help you plan a surprise marriage proposal that is sure to wow your future wife.
5 easy steps for a picture perfect surprise proposal
- Professional Photo and/or Video
Hire a profession to capture the moment. From experience, the moment goes by faster than you might think. In a blink of an eye, you will have gotten down on one knee, popped the question, and moved on to the celebration before you even know it and the memory of the proposal will be a blur. Having a professional photographer and/or videographer capture the proposal will give you the ability to relive it over and over, and allow you to share it with your friends and family.
Good proposal planners are AMAZING at their jobs. Let’s face it fellas, we are not always the most in touch with our romantic alter egos. A proposal planner will have numerous ideas for you to have a unique and amazing proposal, while freeing up time for you to prepare what you want to say and allowing you to enjoy the moment.
- What’s Her Proposal Personality?
You know your future bride the best. Her likes, dislikes, favorite food, etc… Make a list of all of her qualities and plan your proposal around them. Does she have a favorite sports team? If so, you could pop the question at their stadium. If the stadium isn’t close try a sports bar while one of their games are on. Is she a very private person? If she is, a romantic candle lit proposal at home might be just the ticket. Is she really close to her family? Maybe getting her mom, dad, brothers, and/or sisters involved is the best route.
The sky is the limit. Making sure to include her favorite parts of life is sure to make your proposal tailor made for her personality.
Keep it super simple. Unless you have a team of people all being organized by a professional (proposal planner), keeping the proposal simple is your best bet. We have seen proposals go completely south due to an elaborate plan not being executed properly (like not even being able to make it to your own proposal). Sometimes all you need are some heartfelt words spelled out on paper to fill her heart with joy.
Have a plan? Plan some more. Your plans should have plans. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT try and throw a proposal together the day before, or even the week before, you are planning to propose. If your planning on hiring a professional, you’ll need to give them AT LEAST a months notice. Professionals will be booked out months in advance. We get at least 2 inquiries a month BEGGING us to capture a proposal in just 2 days. More often than not, we are already booked.
This is a very important day in your life and should be treated as much. Take your time to put together a plan. If you throw it together it WILL look like you threw it together. If you’ve taken your time to make a plan, it will show, and she will know that you took the time to make it perfect for her.
Follow these simple steps and your surprise proposal is sure to be a day that you can relive over and over again with smiles and tears for generations to come.
